Tabs Backup & Restore is a Firefox extension designed for effective tab management, allowing users to manually or automatically back up all open tabs across multiple windows. While it does not save the entire navigation history, it captures the current URL for each tab, which is sufficient for most users who tend to have a single URL per tab. The extension includes an auto-backup feature that can be customized in the Preferences, enabling users to set backup frequency and limit the number of backups stored. Users can easily restore their tabs from saved backups, ensuring a seamless browsing experience.
Additionally, the extension facilitates manual session saving to disk, which can be imported later to restore sessions on any computer or operating system with the same extension installed. This feature provides an extra layer of security against data loss due to profile corruption. Sessions saved to disk are stored as human-readable text files, allowing for easy manipulation by developers. However, it is important to note that due to Firefox's restrictions, certain internal and file URLs cannot be restored.
